There is a new sound coming from Pall Mall Barbers. In September 2026, Pall Mall Barbers officially opened its new Podcast & Media Studio in Central London, creating a dedicated space for conversations about barbering, men’s grooming, business, entrepreneurship, confidence, British heritage and the stories of the people who walk through our world. The microphones are on, the cameras are rolling, and the first conversations have already started. For a business built around conversation, it feels like a natural next chapter.
For 130 years, people have been sitting in barber chairs connected to the Pall Mall Barbers story. They have talked about careers, relationships, families, businesses, ambitions, successes, setbacks, and everything happening in the world outside the barber shop. Now, some of those conversations are getting a bigger stage through the Pall Mall Barbers Podcast & Media Studio.
From the Barber Chair to the Microphone
There has always been something distinctive about a conversation in a barber chair. You may sit down for a haircut, beard trim, or shave, but the discussion rarely stays only with hair. People talk about what is happening at work, where they are travelling, the business they are trying to build, the relationship they are navigating, the meeting they are preparing for, or simply what happened during the week. Sometimes the conversation is serious, sometimes it is funny, and sometimes it begins with a question about a haircut and ends somewhere completely unexpected.
That has always been part of barbering. Pall Mall Barbers traces the history of its original barber shop at 27 Whitcomb Street back to 1896, when the business operated as the Pall Mall Toilet Saloon near Trafalgar Square and Pall Mall. In 2026, that story reaches its 130th year. Across thirteen decades, countless conversations will have taken place around those barber chairs. Most were never recorded. They happened, people laughed, advice was exchanged, somebody walked back onto the streets of London, and life continued. The new Pall Mall Barbers Podcast & Media Studio takes that spirit of conversation and gives it a new platform.
Introducing the Pall Mall Barbers Podcast & Media Studio
The new Podcast & Media Studio in Central London has been created as a dedicated home for Pall Mall Barbers content, conversations and storytelling. It is not being built simply because podcasts are popular. The purpose is much broader than launching another Pod. The studio provides a place where Pall Mall Barbers can bring together barbers, founders, entrepreneurs, clients, creators, business leaders and interesting people from different backgrounds and give them time to talk properly.
Some conversations will naturally focus on barbering, while others will explore men’s grooming, personal presentation, entrepreneurship, business growth, leadership, confidence, resilience, international trade, London life and the lessons people have learned through their own careers. Other episodes may simply begin with someone who has an interesting story worth hearing. That unpredictability is deliberate because it reflects what has always happened naturally in the barber chair.

Richard Marshall MBE Takes the First Seat
There was only one place to begin the new studio. For the first session, Ash turned the microphone towards Pall Mall Barbers Founder and CEO Richard Marshall MBE. Richard has spent decades having conversations from the other side of the barber chair, so starting the new Podcast & Media Studio with Richard in the guest seat felt particularly fitting.
The session included questions, stories, reflections, and plenty of laughter, setting the tone for what we want the studio to become. The conversation also gave Richard an opportunity to look back at a journey that began long before there was a media studio, multiple barber shop locations, or an international business. Richard started working around barbering at a young age, later moved to London and eventually acquired the original Pall Mall Barbers business in 2005. During renovation work, the discovery of an old Pall Mall Toilet Saloon business card helped uncover the historic connection to 1896.
Today, that journey stretches across London and New York and increasingly into business mentoring, entrepreneurship and international trade. In the 2026 New Year Honours, Richard Marshall was appointed an MBE for services to international trade, mentoring and people with dyslexia. There is a lot to talk about, and now there is a dedicated place to do it.
A Podcast Studio Built Around Real Conversations
The Pall Mall Barbers Podcast will not be built around conversations designed simply to create clips. The aim is to make room for stories, and that distinction matters. Social media often encourages people to reduce complex experiences into a sentence, a soundbite, or a few seconds of video. Some stories need more room.
A founder explaining the mistakes that nearly ended a business needs more than thirty seconds. A barber talking about the lessons learned from decades of working with clients deserves more than a caption. A conversation about dyslexia, confidence, failure, leadership, or the pressure of building a company cannot always be reduced to a perfect quote. Podcasting creates space, and the new studio allows Pall Mall Barbers to slow the conversation down, listen, and discover where it goes.
More Than a Pod
The new space may begin with the Podcast, but its role extends much further. The Pall Mall Barbers Media Studio is designed to become a broader content hub capable of supporting interviews, founder conversations, barber education, grooming advice, social content, short-form video, brand films, and other media formats.
That gives Pall Mall Barbers the ability to take knowledge that previously existed primarily inside the barber shop and share it with people much further away. An independent barber can explain how to approach a consultation. A founder can explain a business lesson. A guest can share the experience that changed the direction of their career. Richard can discuss international expansion, mentoring, dyslexia, or entrepreneurship. A grooming conversation can help someone understand why his haircut has become difficult to style or how he can maintain his beard between appointments.
The Media Studio makes those conversations reusable, accessible and shareable. One room can produce a Podcast episode, a short educational video, a business conversation, social clips and content that continues reaching people long after the recording ends.
130 Years of Conversation Creates the Foundation
The timing of the studio is important. Pall Mall Barbers is celebrating 130 years of barbering history in 2026, with the documented story of the original Whitcomb Street barber shop reaching back to 1896. London has changed almost beyond recognition during those thirteen decades. Transport changed, business changed, fashion changed, technology changed, the way people communicate changed, the way people discover and book a barber changed, and the hairstyles walking through the door changed countless times.
But conversation remained. That continuity is what makes the new Podcast & Media Studio feel less like a departure from the Pall Mall Barbers story and more like an extension of it. The technology is new, but the principle is not. People sit down, someone listens, and a conversation begins.
Taking the Barber Chair Beyond Central London
Historically, a conversation in the barber shop ended when the appointment ended. Today, digital media changes that completely. A conversation recorded in Central London can be heard in New York, Manchester, Dubai, Singapore, Sydney or anywhere else someone decides to press play.
That creates an exciting opportunity for Pall Mall Barbers. The business already operates across London and New York, and Richard Marshall has continued to participate in wider discussions around British entrepreneurship and exporting. The Media Studio gives those wider conversations a permanent home within the brand. Pall Mall Barbers can remain deeply connected to London while sharing the people, ideas and experiences behind the business internationally.
Pall Mall Barbers describes its direction through the idea of Modern Heritage. The history matters, but history needs to continue moving. A brand with roots in Victorian London should not attempt to communicate as though it were still living in Victorian London. Modern Heritage means respecting the barbering culture, human relationships, and standards that helped the business endure while using contemporary tools to make those values relevant now.
That is exactly what the Podcast & Media Studio represents. The original Pall Mall Barbers story reaches back to 1896, while the new studio uses podcasts, cameras, digital platforms and modern content distribution. Those ideas are not in conflict. They belong together. The history gives the stories depth, while modern media gives those stories reach.
The new studio gives Pall Mall Barbers room to discuss many subjects, but barbering remains central to the story. There are thousands of questions men have about their hair and grooming, including why a haircut becomes more difficult to style as it grows, what to tell an independent barber before a haircut, how to maintain a beard between appointments, which haircut works with a particular hair type, how much styling product to use, and what to consider before changing hairstyle.
These are natural conversations for Pall Mall Barbers because they already happen every day in barber shops. The Podcast and Media Studio simply creates another way to share that knowledge and make barber-led education available to a wider audience.
Not every guest needs to be a celebrity. Some of the most interesting conversations happen with people whose names are not already known around the world. A barber with decades of experience can have extraordinary insight into people. A small business founder can teach lessons that do not appear in textbooks. A client may have a career story worth hearing. A creator may understand an audience in an entirely new way. An entrepreneur may have failed several times before building something that finally worked.
Jonathan and Izzy have worked hard to bring the vision for the studio to life. We wanted to create something that didn’t just look right on camera but felt right when people walked into the room.
They nailed it!
Launch Highlights: What the New Studio Represents
The biggest highlight is not simply that Pall Mall Barbers now has a Podcast studio. It is that the business now has a dedicated Media space where 130 years of history can connect with the future. The studio creates a platform for barber education, founder stories, men’s grooming discussions, entrepreneurship, business conversations, guest interviews, and long-form storytelling while producing content that can reach audiences far beyond Central London.
Another major highlight is the ability to bring different communities together. Barbers can sit alongside business owners, entrepreneurs can sit alongside clients, and creators can speak with people from traditional industries. Discussions about grooming can lead naturally into confidence, careers or personal development. Most importantly, the studio gives Pall Mall Barbers the opportunity to preserve conversations that would otherwise disappear as soon as they finished. Some stories deserve to last longer than the appointment.
The First Recording Is Only the Beginning
The opening of the Pall Mall Barbers Podcast & Media Studio does not represent the finished project. It represents the starting line. The first microphone has been switched on, the first interview has happened, and the first stories have been recorded. Now the studio can begin developing its own rhythm, guests and identity.
Some episodes will educate, some will entertain, and some will challenge an idea. Others will introduce people audiences may never have heard from before. Some conversations may begin with barbering and end somewhere completely different. That freedom is part of what makes the project exciting.
Building the Next Era of Pall Mall Barbers
A great deal has been happening behind the scenes as Pall Mall Barbers considers what the next era of the business should look like. The barber shops remain central, the clients remain central, and barbering remains central, but there is more knowledge, experience, and history within the business than can exist only inside an appointment.
The Podcast & Media Studio creates a way to open that world up. It allows Pall Mall Barbers to educate, document, interview, challenge, laugh, listen and tell stories properly. For a brand celebrating 130 years, it would be easy to spend the entire year looking backwards. That is not the intention. Heritage gives us something to build from, while the new studio gives us another place to build towards.
