Dermot O’Leary, X Factor host and all round nice guy, sports a short, easy to manage style that means he always looks well groomed.
If this is a style you fancy trying then read on. Our Get the Look tips will have you looking dapper in no time.
First you need to book an appointment with your favourite barber at Pall Mall Barbers. Go online or give us a ring. Once you’re there, ask your barber for a short scissor cut on the back and sides, giving a softer look than having the hair clippered.
An even cut through the top is then needed and this is connected to the sides.
Dermot O’Leary has the front of his hair cut short to show off his impressive hairline, but it you’re not so lucky and don’t have such a perfect hairline then leave the front of the hair a little longer.
Add texture by point cutting into the hair when dry it’s fully dry. This is vital to achieve this, as without it thick hair can look incredibly bulky and can seem to lack any definition.
Finally, the last stage for your barber to get the right cut for the Dermot O’Leary look, is to line out with trimmers and a razor and give a tapered finish to the base of the neck.
Blow dry your hair using a small round brush pushing the hair to one side and slightly back – this avoids the comb over look.
To get a shine on the hair but with good hold, use Pall Mall Barbers Flexible Shine. This is a great product and a little goes a long way. Watch this video of Dan in our Fitzrovia store showing you exactly how to use it.
To get the designer stubble that DermotO’Leary has, use the clippers on a half grade then gently fade into the checks and top lip then line the neck out so that neck hair can both be seen when standing straight. Moisturise to keep the stubble soft and not harsh. Why not get a Pall Mall Barber to do your beard for you the first time then you will have guide lines to follow!
If you want to buy our Flexbile Shine or any other of our quality men’s hairstyling products, go to that page on our website here, or pop into one of our London barber shops.
