Unless you happened to be competing in the first modern Olympic Games, 1896 wasn’t especially notable. Still, there are a few interesting footnotes to be found in the history books if you look for them: in May, a six-tonne chandelier plunged into the assembled crowd in a Paris opera house, killing one unlucky soul and wounding countless others. That August, chop suey was invented in New York City by a visiting Chinese chef. Later that month, Britain took thirty-eight minutes to defeat Zanzibar in the shortest war in recorded history. And back across the pond, just off Trafalgar Square, Pall Mall Barbers opened its first shop on Whitcomb Street. If awards for the best barbers in London were given out on length of service, we’d have it wrapped up.
122 years later, our trophy cabinet still doesn’t have much time to collect dust. In 2017 alone, we beat out some heavyweight competition to claim the title of Best Male Grooming Salon at the Salon Business Awards, and Best Grooming Range at the Hair Magazine Awards. We’re incredibly proud to be recognised by our own industry, but we’re even more chuffed when we hear it from customers like Daniel Kapadia: “I’ve spent a couple years looking for a solid barber shop. Thankfully the search is over – Pall Mall Fitzrovia is by far the winner. After trying around 8 different places in London that had good reviews, this stood up and delivered beyond expectation.”
Despite born under the reign of Queen Victoria, Pall Mall Barbers has never stopped moving with the times and keeping up with the latest trends. From that one shop we’ve now grown to five and assembled a team of the best barbers in London. Of course, we would say that, but our clients will back us up. Daniel A gets straight to the point: “Best barbers in London. Rainy gave me the tightest skin fade! Highly recommend!”
If that’s still not enough to convince you, we give you the words of our client Callum Watson: “Booked online with Marii – really good vibe, you feel like the team enjoy working there. Very nice scotch while I waited.” Very nice Scotch indeed – and aged to perfection, just like us.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our London barbershops soon!
